Members of legislative bodies from the UK are to share their opinions, ideas and perspectives related to legalised gaming with their colleagues from the US. This is to happen at a special cross-continent exchange forum that involves the participation of both gaming lawmakers’ organisations.
The National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS for short) is to kick off on January 6th, 2017 and is to be through two days later – on January 8th, 2017. The Winter Meeting of the Council is to be held at the Hotel Valley Ho. It is expected to gather legislators originating from all over the world, including some British Members of Parliament. The participants are expected to join forces on major discussions related to all aspects of gaming, sharing their experience to date, as well as plans and ideas for the upcoming years. The lawmakers who attend the meeting of the NCLGS will also be given the chance to share their concerns associated with gambling risks.
A state senator from Florida, Bill Galvano, who is also President of NCLGS commented on the upcoming event, saying that the Council was aimed at helping elected officials learn from each other’s experience when it comes to gaming policy. According to him, such meetings had become a necessity, as gaming is a global industry and experience, plans and ideas on the matter should be shared with counterparts overseas.
Currently, the NCLGS is the only state lawmakers’ organisation that makes gaming-related meetings regularly. The Council is also engaged with educating members of legislative bodies on various issues related to gaming.
This is not the only cross-continental meeting on the matters related to gambling industry that is scheduled for the beginning of 2017. Only a month later, on February 7th, London is to host the International Legislators’ Day – an event organised by the British All Party Parliamentary Betting & Gaming Group. The International Legislators’ Day meeting is expected to attract a large number of legislators from all over the world. The event is to be also attended by members of the NCLGS.
As mentioned above, the International Legislators’ Day is to be held on February 7th on the opening day of the largest gaming exhibition on a global scale – the ICE Totally Gaming trade show.
